This page has information about class tutorials (part of your speaking assessment for this module):
The assessment is conducted in the weekly in-class tutorial which is in the course book.
Tutorial discussions are related to the topic in the course book unit covered that week
Prior to the whole group discussion, there is small group discussion. Students can stay in the same small group, if required, for the small group discussion throughout the course to aid with assessment procedure.
Assessment is ongoing, i.e. students can be assessed during any of the small group or whole class tutorial discussions.
Procedure:
1. Students are given 3 tutorial questions (contained in SB—students read these at the beginning of the week) 2. Students individually prepare for tutorial referring to their RJ and the SB. 3. In small groups (3–4 students) using roleplay cards if required (located in TB), students discuss the tutorial questions in class to activate their ideas prior to the whole-class tutorial. Teacher should monitor groups and can make evaluations during this time using the tutorial assessment checklist. 4. Whole-class discussion. During this stage, the teacher should be facilitator only, rather than a participant. The teacher can make evaluations during this time using the tutorial assessment checklist. 5. The teacher gives whole-class feedback—possibly the same day or in the next lesson.
